This blog is on a hiatus because I’d rather devote my kitty blogging to my new Kitty Life comic website. Join us!
I hope to make this a regular feature

Although we only have two kittens, they aren’t the only creatures that live in the house. Even tho Miss M is much too old for it, she still has stuffed animals with names and personalities. Before the kittens moved in, Mr. S talked about them like they were alive and Miss M loved this. So she’s quite happy that the kittens love her stuffed friends too.
Here’s Hobbes curling up with Scott, the sea turtle.
And here’s Hobbes sleeping on top of Dog, the Bounty Hunter.
Neither of these photographs was staged. They just love the other animals.
I love being a single mom. When Mr. S leaves for debate tournaments to coach on the weekends, it’s just me and the babies. I get a lot less work done than I should because when the kittens lay on me I hate to get up (even when I have to pee). At night when Mr. S is home we usually shut the kittens out of the bedroom because they regularly pounce on his curly head in the middle of the night. But when he’s gone, I let them roam in the room. They find a comfortable place to sleep like my tummy or between my knees. I wake up feeling like there’s a heating pad on me and discover it’s a furry baby.
The kittens sleep on Mr. S only in the mornings when we let them in after they’ve had breakfast.
The kittens were really getting smelly. We’d been putting off their first bath because we knew they’d hate it. But Miss M read a bunch of articles about bathing kittens online and bought some baby pet shampoo. Miss M held down the kittens and Mr. S did the washing. They hated it. The poor babes made the most sorrowful mewls we’ve ever heard. Hobbes fought fiercely and scrapped deep into Miss M’s hand.
When we got to Calvin, Miss M put on gloves and a long sleeve shirt to protect her weak skin from their scared little claws. They were so cute when they were wet. They let us wrap them like babies in towels without even fighting back
They dried each other off for at least an hour before curling up on our quilts to sleep. But they smell so much better, it was so worth it.
There’s a long-standing friendly dispute in our household — who do the kittens love more? We decided we each get to feed the kittens once a day so nobody gets an unfair advantage. Despite this, they go to Miss M much more often when they want to cuddle. Mr. S seethed with jealousy when the babies jumped into her lap to sleep (and ignored him). But yesterday, it was time to trim their claws. Mr. S was too scared to help because the kittens were mewling and wriggling in fear. So Miss M was forced to wrap the kittens in a towel to constrain their back legs and clip away. The rest of the afternoon the kittens moped around and licked their paws. But Mr. S is happy because since then the kittens choose him when they want to be pet.
Hobbes and Calvin learn so quickly. If they discover that they can jump to a certain spot — the window sill, tub ridge, dresser, Mr. S’s chair — then they do it nearly every chance they can get.
Miss M taught the kittens that not only can they go in but they can also climb on top of their kitten house. This led to a lot of playing with the house when the boys tried to hide in and on top of the house from each other.
Where you? Calvin. This’s not funny. Come out now. I’m telling on you.
The agency was very strong that the kittens can’t go alone — the brothers went to a home together. I was a bit reluctant but really wanted a kitty. I am totally glad that both of them are living with me because they are so affectionate together. I found them sleeping like this in the sun yesterday and couldn’t stop saying, awwwwwwww!
Miss M made us a kitten house. We love to chase our whistle ball into it and pounce at each other out the door. It’s also fun to look thru the windows and swat each other. We like the crinkly sound it makes. Sometimes we curl up in the house and hide so that we can surprise somebody who careless walks near our front door.
Iz this house for us?!
Iz just my size.
Hey! I wants in.
Nowz I’m the king of the house.
