Calvin yawning!

Every time Calvin wakes up, he yawns a very wide-mouth yawn.  It looks a little like he’s screaming except that his eyes are so sleepy.

The internet says that cats rolling over on their backs is “probably the friendliest thing a cat can do. It’s her way of saying I trust you.” You better believe I was really happy when I Calvin woke up from his nap and said, “I trust you Miss M.”

Calvin actually loves his tummy being rubbed. His fat little kitty tummy!

I, Miss M, had only wanted one kitty but the adoption agencies were firm that the little ones needed playmates to socialize. So I chose two kittens and packed them nicely into a cat carrier.

Calvin and Hobbes!

The whole subway ride home I was bumping around while I held tightly to their box. I kept peering in every time the train stopped. The little boys were all cuddled around each other in a little ball and staring back at me with very wide eyes. When I opened their carrier at home, I showed them the kitchen and their littler box first.

Calvin and Hobbes were scared for awhile and were afraid to wander off the tile. They explored the narrow passageways between the boxes and fought with each other for the tiny spaces. Calvin was the first to tenatively step from the kitchen to the hallway and finally explore the rest of the apartment. Neither of the boys were feeling affectionate because they wanted to check out everything. Look! There’s a soft pile of fabric! Look there’s beads hanging! Look there’s a box to scratch!

Finally when Mr. S and I were ready to sleep, we climbed into bed. Hobbes had no trouble jumping from the floor to the futon bed and cuddling between us. Calvin couldn’t make the jump so instead he mewled impatiently until we lifted him up. He wasn’t ready to sleep either. He ran all around the bed with his tiny kitty paws padding across our bodies and faces. I felt so bad shutting both of them outside the bedroom but it was impossible to sleep with Calvin jumping everywhere. I opened the door early the next morning to scoop the kittehs on the bed and nuzzle their soft fur.
